KELLY LEGIER POSTPONES HER QUEST FOR THE JUDICIARY.
The following press release was disseminated from the Legier Camp notifying the public that she is postponing her bid for Civil District Court, Division M but plans to run when the next judicial seat opens.
PRESS RELEASE
NEW ORLEANS, LA – Attorney Kelly McNeil Legier, candidate for Civil District Court, Division M, withdrew from the race on Friday although preliminary indicators showed her receiving favorable responses from the public and legal community. Personal reasons prompted the decision according to Ms. Legier.
“It was a very difficult decision made after much prayer, reflection and family discussion. It is the best decision for my family at this time. I am sure things will be different for us when the next seat becomes available.”
Ms. Legier and her attorney/business owner husband Ernest Legier, Jr. significantly invested in the campaign, however, during the course of the campaign it became apparent that fundraising sources began to focus on higher profile races.
Ms. Legier is not deterred from her goal of becoming a member of the judiciary. Her enthusiasm generates as much support since her decision to withdraw as it did during the campaign. Without the great showing of support that Ms. Legier received from family, friends, and colleagues, she would not have accomplished as much as she did this time. Ms. Legier acknowledges that this was not her time but that her time will come in due season.
“There is an appointed time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens. I will patiently await my season. I am extremely grateful for the support and positive responses I did receive during this brief run. And I hope that people will remember and support me when another judicial seat opens.”
Ms. Legier, who previously worked for Stone, Pigman, Walther, Wittmann, L.L.P. and clerked for the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and U.S. District Court, will resume her work in private practice with the New Orleans office of Shook, Hardy & Bacon, L.L.P. in the areas of employment law and commercial litigation.
